Edison for the Holidays

It's been a while since an update! And it will probably take a while to upload all of the photos taken in the last few weeks...

Although Edison doesn't realize it's Christmas yet, I'm already enjoying the thought of buying him lots of toys and decorating trees and playing in the snow - next year. In the meantime, we're enjoying the lights and the great December weather on Guam. I know I'll miss it next year when I'm freezing.

Edison is definitely getting bigger - mostly longer - and is all over the house. He can reach things pretty high up on furniture, and has figured out how to open cabinet doors. It's definitely time to child-proof this place!

We also bought him a potty chair, with the intention of getting him used to pooping on a potty. So far we just have to put it on him every time we think he might need to go - which has resulted in a lot of poop on legs, the floor, clothes, etc. But we're working on it. Damon really wants to eliminate having to change poopy diapers.

Edison now has a total of six teeth, which he really likes to use. For some reason my shoulder seems to make a good chew toy. And I am frequently having to tell him - no biting! while nursing. Just what I was afraid of. But I think he's catching on - he seems to be biting less now.

His most favorite activity right now is playing in the water. It doesn't matter what kind of water, just as long as it's water. I found him trying to swim in Zeke's water bowl the other morning. Last weekend we got to go to Edison's first birthday party, where he got to swim in the pool and float around in his inflatable pool thing. It was a big hit. I will say though that this was the most elaborate children's b-day party I have ever been to. I'm pretty fearful of the standards we'll have to live up to in the future! Holy cow!

Since we skipped Thanksgiving, there are some pictures from the day below. We spent the afternoon with our friend Marcia and her family. Although Edison refused to take a nap that day, he still enjoyed trying new foods and seeing new animals :)

Well, before Damon sees how much I've written, I'll stop and move on to the photos - more to come after Christmas!
"I hope I'm not being used as bait here"

Edison's first Thanksgiving food.

And he likes this food too.

"Marcia, Mariah, feed me more!"

"Oh, this joke is going to be funny..."

"It was!"

"Hold on, I'm not done yet."

"Hey, where did Zeke go?"

Crashed

Edison wants in.

Edison's first train ride inside a mall.

Please! Don't...take a picture with Santa playing the sax, it will look weird.

Edison can get used to this.

Mommy takes Edison to see...

a caribou?!

Playing in the park.

"Check out my ride!"

Big Eyes

Daddy and mommy watch the camera while Edison watches the concert.

Pointing, Cleavage, Baby (another foiled family photo).

More fish!

 Amazing balloon Yoda this is.

Edison and Daddy join the Dark Side.

Edison wants to know when he gets his Storm Trooper uniform.

Edison takes command of his vessel in rough seas.

Skinny Crawling in the Ocean

"Mommy, I'm right here, dad was just joking about me being swept out to sea."
"I just saw the moon rise!"

Some part of the Lunar Eclipse.

This is another moon rise with about a 3 second exposure time.

Just when she thought he wasn't looking, daddy catches mommy baptizing Edison.

The last time we look into the sun for a family photo.

Happy Holidays!

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Happy Birthday Birthday Birthday Birthday....Grandpa Jim!  In honor of your special day, we drank wine (because we know you like to drink it), and we ate some garlic (because we know you're a big fan of that too), and looked at insects (though you can't see your favorite kind, the moths in this photo, it's behind my head).  The wine and insects are pretty cool, but I don't know how you can stand this garlic stuff...I tried it (twice actually), I really did try to enjoy it, but I guess it's just not something I'm going to like.   Maybe you have a secret on how to eat it since you have more experience at it than I do.  Let's see, I'm 7 months old, wow, you have 917 more months of experience on me!  Well, I'm catching up, and will be looking forward to some tips from you.  I hope you had a great day and drank a bunch of tasty milk like I did...man, that's really good stuff, it's so much better than wine.  Can't wait to see you again soon.  Happy Birthday Grandpa!  Love Edison.
