An EZ Update with a Grandpa visit.

Unbelievably, Edison is already 11 months old. I can't believe we'll already have a one year old on our hands so soon!! It makes me realize how quickly 10 or even 20 years can go by, and makes me really appreciate the time I get to spend with him now.

Edison continues to be a constant source of entertainment, especially with his new-found independence. He's definitely an opinionated little guy, and we're already seeing hints of the terrible-two's to come...
We try not to discourage his curiosity though, even if it resulted in the destruction of my cell phone (it got dunked in Zeke's water bowl, then dropped from 5 ft up in one afternoon), and the screen of my brand new laptop over the course of two days. Right now he's helping Zeke eat a rawhide bone...

He also really enjoys dropping things from high places. Favorite spots include the railing above the stairs, and from the balcony of the porch. Nothing like testing gravity on a variety of objects.
He does not particularly like walking the dog anymore though. Well, actually he just insists on walking himself, which means that the walk takes an hour instead of 30 minutes...but at least it's good that he likes the exercise :)

Edison also has 8 teeth now. His first dental appointment has been scheduled - we'll see how that goes. We just had his 9-month blood test done, which he smiled through all of. It does appear Edison's a little anemic though, so I guess we'll have to bulk up on the liver and steaks..

What else? Edison's vocabulary continues to grow. He definitely understands a lot of words, but doesn't really say much yet. He at least refers to Damon as 'dada', as opposed to me, who he refers to as Bob.
He's good at communicating with grunts and pointing though, so at least he frequently gets his ideas across.

That's all I have to ramble about for now. On to the pictures from the last couple weeks!

Even though it was a tortilla eating contest, Edison was still admonished for eating like a savage.

Here he is learning how to eat more civilly.

Ahh, the post sneezy satisfaction.

I'm...

Gonna...

Get you!

The Hawaiian Island Trip

Alright! A new post!

Well, last week we flew to Hawaii for a conference for me, and met up with Edison's Grandpa Lonn and Aunt Lauren. It was the first time he had seen them since August, and he definitely thought they were lots of fun. Grandpa then came back to Guam with us, and they've had a great time at the pool, beach, and every war related site on the island this week.

As you will see in the video, Edison is now ambulatory! Big milestone! He took his first steps on 2/1, and over the course of February became braver and more balanced, and now even has his first pair of real walking shoes :) It's so amazing watching him develop, it's just fascinating.

He also has a new tooth coming in - ouch! We actually ended up having to buy Ibuprofen for him in Hawaii - he may have also had a cold, I'm not sure, but he sure was uncomfortable. Maybe it was just the jet lag...the new tooth has broken through though, so all is well until tooth #8 appears....

Edison has now re-learned waving. There was a period of time - basically when we went to Bali - that he waved at people, but it was a short lived skill, only to re-appear during our Hawaii trip. Maybe he only waves when he travels. He has continued waving since being back home though, so it may be ingrained this time.

I think those are all the main updates for now. Our washer is out again - thanks to a major power surge that even caused an electrical fire in our house. So we're taking trips to the laundro-mat. Feels like college! Hopefully the power surge issue is taken care of now. I did learn something new from all of this though - surge protectors can catch on fire if they have been exposed to too many power surges. So if you have an old surge protector, consider getting a new one with a light - that kind lets you know if it's on it's way to dying. Just a little tidbit to pass on :)

Ok - photos!

It's OK Edison, you're not doing anything that bad (now if you had paint on it...).

Edison's casual water cooler pose...practicing for some future office job I guess.

Edison loves cleaning out the drains at the pool,
though he doesn't care for this hobby of his to be documented.

Edison finds a fresh water spigot at the pool, yet another source of water!

Can't get enough waterfalls (sounds like a song).

"Hmm, car goes beep."

Edison, the door is already open.  That's also the car key.
I thought we went over this.

 Edison playing with his hose.

In O'ahu, Ann and Gerry introduce Edison to soccer...

then some beautiful views.

On Hawaii, Edison meets up with Grandpa, Aunt Lauren and another view.

Then Mommy and Edison sneak off for a quick toke.
( I just found that there! Really!)

"Hey Grandpa, you're actually pretty tolerable."

Edison adjusting the last coral pieces after spelling his name out upside down.

"Aha, my EZ-senses warned me that you birds were sneaking up to take my pear."

Everyone is always dark and blurry at the most southern point of the United States.

Edison sleeps through his first lava tube.  Mommy seems dubious.

Edison finally finds a tree he can aspire to.

Only losers have bunny ears.

"Skip the smoking volcanoes, Moon check."

Edison observes a lizard.

Put that in your memory bank.

Aunt Lauren desperately wants her sunglasses to get bent out of shape.

How is he still fitting in this thing?  What's the weight capacity mom?

 Grandpa suddenly becomes intolerable...

 Mommy to the rescue!

Edison coming back after a little night stroll.

Mommy hiding things in her teeth for the family shot.

Pretty Mommy and uncertain Edison block my shot of the flowers.

Edison's first brewery.  The Koko Brown was daddy's favorite.

Time for another moon check.

Yep, it's still there.

Just checking.

"These petroglyphs better be good."

Blocking more flowers.

Edison keeps us waiting as he prays to Mecca for the second time today.

Edison finds a fridge his size.

"So that's what my bed-time sea horse looks like in the light."

Edison's steroid abuse causes sudden bursts of rage, like throwing high-chair trays.
Thankfully that guy in the blue shirt bent down to tie his shoe just in time.

This was far better entertainment for Edison than food.

Edison leaves his signature mark behind for the window washers.
