Edison Goes Bali-stic!

Edison finally got a stamp in his passport last week when we flew to Bali for our first vacation! (Aside from the trip to the U.S. to see family that is...). Notes from our trip:

- Edison continues to be a good traveler, receiving compliments from our fellow passengers.
- A lot of strangers really like to have their picture taken with Edison. I'm sure those pictures will elicit very special memories for them in years to come...
- The Balinese people really like babies!
- Panas!! Said in a very angry voice, means you are frying your baby in the heat - in Balinese.
- Edison has developed some stranger anxiety already - not particularly good timing for the family...
- Edison learned how to wave, although he seems to do it pretty indiscriminately. Like if he's interested in a light, or a person.
- Edison does NOT approve of mommy and daddy leaving him alone. Especially to go diving.
- He DOES approve of getting a pool at home. I think he would live in it if he could.
- There are really big geckos in Bali.

Although the trip was fun, Edison does seem happy to be home. He is super excited about the pets and is obsessed with grabbing the cats' tails. Constantly.

Now to decide where the next trip will take us...

First stop: Taipei, Taiwan

Edison steals daddy's aisle seat (more leg room).

Our Bali living room.

The pool and yard.

And dining room.

Our view from the terrace.

Pool time with Pamma, mommy, and a new toy.

Pool time with daddy.

Pamma warning Edison not to wear White Sox paraphernalia around daddy.

Our first adventure begins in the green rice fields.

Uncle Jamie attempts to get Edison to pose.

The family marches on through the heat...

and endures a pretty satisfactory landscape.

Uncle Clinton and Edison take shelter from the UV rays...

until Edison eats the shelter.

(we're going to need that shelter back)

Mommy and Uncle Clinton play with Edison, while Pamma has a moment of
realization that the lukewarm soup probably wasn't the best dish to have eaten...

Tea and coffee (Luwak style) tasting time.
(Luwak is the coffee bean that has been passed through the entire
digestive system of the rat/cat like creature called the Asian Palm Civet)

Daddy, mommy and uncle Clint are prepared to enter the temple,
however Edison hasn't had any teeth fall out yet, so he unfortunately
won't be able to have fond memories of what is inside.

Yay, more pool time!

Yay, more shelter time!

Oh man, we could have totally saved some money
if we only knew about this back on April 22nd.

Edison's being supervised by Aunt Sam for his first ride in a shopping cart.

Edison gets passed around by the grocery store clerks.

"Hey mommy, I'm as big as your top half!"

"I can't get enough of this pool time!"

Actually, Edison can only handle so much pool time.

After nap time, he's up and about in search for food...

"Where are you food?...What will you be today?"

"Yummmy, dragon fruit!"

Seeds come out just as intact as when they went in.

Mommy and daddy get to do a few dives.

Yes, those are fish behind us...

Many fish.

Aunt Sam casting a sleeping spell on Edison (to stay asleep until
mommy and daddy come back from their second dive) which doesn't work.

Edison being happy to be back with mommy after the fist dive.

Shortly after failing to answer the temple guardian's riddle, Mommy and Edison
take a rest half way through the maze of Wobbling Stones of Certain Death.

Edison is fascinated by the many man-eating coy.

Edison continues his newly acquired hand-grasping gesture in Taipei airport

Mommy and Edison.

Mommy and Edison-san.

Mommy and Edison on a very cool bridge in another very cool temple
after answering the bridge troll's riddle correctly.

Windy holds Edison while Uncle Clinton and Pamma get purified by holy water.

Edison's turn to be purified!

Uncle Clinton manages the purification of Edison.

With a little sprinkle here and a little splish splash there...

We have a brand new baby.

"Look ma, no more evil spirits!"

While mommy isn't paying attention, an unexpected prearranged marriage occurs...

being sealed with a kiss.

As it turns out, mommy approved of the newly wedded couple.  However,
Edison is deeply saddened after realizing how little freedom he actually has.
