Edison turns 2 (!)

Time sure flies when you have a 2 year-old! And so does time to update blogs, apparently.... Edison is pretty entertaining as usual, especially now that he talks a lot - and has no problem telling you what's on his mind. He has also developed a strong sense of independence - most activities must be done "by self". Just as long as those things aren't jumping on the firepole at the playground, or climbing a 6 ft ladder to "get on the roof", or taking excessive amounts of yogurt out of the refrigerator....I'm usually ok with it.

Last night I had an interesting conversation with Edison. To give you context, Edison had just taken his bath and had no clothes on. We went outside and I had walked away from the yard for a minute to talk to Damon, and when I came back, Edison was standing in the part of the yard where Zeke likes to poop.
"Mommy! Mommy!"
"What?"
"Mommy, pooped on grass"
"What? You found a poop on the grass?"
"POOPED on grass!"
"Wait, you pooped on the grass?"
"Uh huh. Poop on legs!"
So I walk over to investigate, and sure enough, among Zeke's poop is a little pile of Edison poop.
"Edison, why did you poop on the grass? Who are you?!"
"Psycho man!"
Ha! I have to say that made me laugh.

He's also really into playing "chase me!" or "where is Edison?". The latter generally involves Edison hiding in his bed, then saying, "where's Edison??" To which I respond, "Edison, where are you?!"
"In the closet!"
"Hmmm, I don't see Edison in the closet. Where's Edison?"
"In the bathroom!"
"Hmm, I don't see Edison in the bathroom. I wonder where he is?"
"Under the covers!!"
"Ooohhhh! There you are!"
This is, apparently, GREAT fun.

Last thing he's really into is singing - BINGO, Twinkle Twinkle, ABCs, and various Sesame Street songs. It's pretty random when he busts those out, but he's getting pretty good at it!

I'm really glad the winter seems to have finally ended and spring has arrived! We just built a garden and fence, so we'll see how that goes. We're also discovering just how many ticks live in our yard...and there are a lot. Good news is, there are also a lot of neat birds coming back into town, so hopefully they'll have a lot to eat.

Last thing I should mention is Edison's b-day of course! It was complete with a party (which was devoid of crying or fighting among 2 year olds, so I consider that a success), cake, lots of presents, and a trip to the Pottawatomie Zoo on his actual b-day. Edison now walks around the house identifying "presents" to open....like, boxes of kleenex, boxes of chocolates, colorful bags, etc.  I'm pretty sure he'll anxiously await the next Earth Day...

Ok - so on to the pictures! There are pictures going back to at least March...plus pictures from our trip to Arizona...plus a few pictures from Edison's b-day...etc...And in case you were wondering, those pictures where Edison has his eyes closed? That's actually how he smiles for pictures...

Zeke's Bar-Mitzvah!

Amen.

Edison smiling.

Smiling Edison.

Smile!

There we go!  That's how you do it!

Where did that yogurt go?  "Tummy"!

Where is that turtle?

Where is that grandpa?

"He's behind me, isn't he?"

"One last ride, then we can go back to Michigan."

Edison turns 2.  And celebrates on a construction cake that mommy constructed.

Edison apparently doesn't like streamers.

He doesn't seem to mind choo-choos though.

730 Days old.
