Finally a new blog post! We've had a few weeks of viruses - and now Edison has his first cough - but we're all recovering (slowly) and trying to get back to things like blog updates.
It seems like Edison is changing so much every day now! Since the last update, his first two teeth have come in and they are super sharp. I know this because he likes to chomp on our fingers - although I live in fear of the time he decides to chomp down while nursing. He is also working on crawling and seems to be getting pretty close. He can definitely move from point A to point B, but it's kind of an uncoordinated, inchworm type motion. I expect we'll have a video within the next couple of weeks of real crawling though.
He also really likes to pull himself up. One day he was really motivated and pulled himself up to standing in his crib, but we have yet to replicate that moment of strength. He does like to pull himself up using our hands though - so who knows - walking may not be too far away either :)
This week we also decided to let him try foods other than milk. I'm pretty excited about this new step, I think just because I like eating and it's fun watching him taste things. The first food we tried was banana. I haven't actually given him spoonfuls of anything pureed, I'm just letting him taste the foods since he isn't too into swallowing it yet. The banana experience was basically just really messy because it was more fun to squish than to actually eat. The second food was my apple I let him try yesterday. He definitely seemed more enthused about that flavor (maybe because I ate hundreds of apples during my pregnancy). We actually bought some rice and a couple of baby foods to try yesterday - we'll be sure to take pictures of the actual tasting event. And THEN we'll get to use our baby-food cook book! I can't wait.
In other recent events, we had a near diaper emergency a couple of weeks ago when the washing machine stopped working. Of course it decided to stop while in the middle of a diaper wash, leaving me to hand-wash them. It's now fixed, and I'm more knowledgable about all the new kinds of washers available out there. I never thought I would covet a washing machine...
Today Edison is going to make his first trip to a humane society. Last night we found two puppies on our walk and we're going to take them to GAIN (the local shelter) to see what they can do with them. Edison may end up being a foster parent for a little while...we'll see. I'm pretty sure Zeke isn't up to the task though. And then coming up is Halloween! Damon is already hard at work on the costume - hopefully the final product is as great as we think :)
Don't forget to watch the new video at the end!

NEW VIDEO: Edison Shorts 3

Edison is looking great! I can't believe how much he is moving and doing things and two teeth wowzers!!! Lu has yet to roll over. She is trying to sit up and does fairly well for a few moments at a time, getting better every day!! She wieghed in at 5 months just under 13 lbs (10%) for weight and height. She's our little peanut!!!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing you big little munchkin!! Miss you guys!!
This is Sarah by the way using my old blog sing in!! (in case you didn't know)
ReplyDeleteOh - don't worry, I investigated your blog the first time you made a comment ;) It's so funny how kids are totally unpredictable...I mean, I never thought I would have a huge baby, nor a baby who got teeth at 5 months. And I appreciate individual differences so much more now - which I'm sure you do too having two :) I can't wait until the day Edison can meet Fin and Lucy - hopefully less than a year away!
